thats-just-the-way-i-am

When you say “That’s just the way I am!” you are potentially throwing away your personal power. Implicit in that statement is that you can NOT change and that is just not true. You may not want to change, you may not want to invest the time, energy, and effort to change, it may not be worth it or your priority, you may be happy just the way you are. And that is all okay. It is your life, your choices, you must live with the outcome of those choices.

BUT others must live with your choices as well i.e. your loved ones and your colleagues. They can live with your choices OR leave you (do you really want that?) or send you on your merry way (i.e. fire you if it is a work situation).

The very fact you are saying “That’s just the way I am!” seems to indicate there may be a problem. At the very least, it is a mildly defensive statement. A better statement is to FULLY own your power, your development: “This is the way I choose to be.”
