omotenashi

Omotenashi’s original meaning referred to hosting guests “wholeheartedly” but it has taken on an even deeper meaning than to merely offering outstanding hospitality. Omotenashi is all about providing the best service possible, above and beyond what is expected, without expectation of additional reward but rather simply because it is the right thing to do, the kind thing, the proper thing: “You abandon your interest for the benefit of your guest or your customer.”
