The “freedom of enough” is the exciting feeling of liberation you experience when you finally realize that you do have enough. This frees up your energy to be redirected from the ceaseless pursuit of more into deeper, more meaningful channels.

The challenge is that many people never realize they do have enough, plenty, much more than they actually need. So many continue to pursue more, more, more——even though “more” has never really brought them anything other than fleeting satisfaction.

It requires maturity, self-awareness, and an openness to the deeper meaning of life to be able to walk away from the pursuit of more.

The power of enough, the freedom of enough, is a personal choice. Once beyond the bare basics: food, clothing, shelter, transportation, it is all about choice and balance. What are we willing to trade our life’s energy for? How much is enough? Do we live rich personal lives? Do we enjoy what we do for a living? Does our work bring us satisfaction and a sense of meaning and purpose beyond the paycheck? If you didn’t need money, what would give your life meaning?

Just the awareness that so many of our “needs” are artificial, really just “wants” elevated by social norms to a higher than justified status in our minds and emotions is liberating. When we take back our programming and realize that enough can be enough we can reclaim our freedom, relax, and enjoy the journey.

Closing quote:

“Sufficiency is the radical surprising truth about life. Sufficiency is the state of being, the state of knowing, the state of relating to the world that there is enough. And when you lift the veil of scarcity, when you get out of the chase for more and actually pay attention to what’s already there, you start to see that life meets you exactly where you are and gives you exactly what you need. It’s not an amount of anything. It’s a way of being, a way of seeing, a way of living.

“If you let go of trying to get more of what you don’t really need it frees up oceans of energy to pay attention to and make a difference with what you already have. When you make a difference with what you have, it expands. Another way of saying that is: What you appreciate appreciates. So, when we pay attention to what we have, when we let go of trying to get more, we can live in a state of being where we see that there’s enough.”
