Someone has to win. Someone will stand at the top of the podium and receive the gold medal. Why not us? Why not you?

In times of trouble, of seemingly endless economic challenges, people can lose sight of possibility. Winning can seem like an impossible goal and when I set my sights upon the stars, there are a scattered few who think I’m anchoring too high. One negative consequence is trying to protect yourself and your corner of the organization by anchoring low or tuning out.

But someone has to win. Someone is going to catch the Hail Mary pass, someone is going to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. I’m not saying you should base your business plan on pulling off the extraordinary every day. I am saying always be alert for the opportunity to pull off a stunning upset. Never, ever give up on the possibility of winning and winning big.

Victory is not ordained to the favorite nor is any outcome written in stone. Events always can be positively impacted. Even if an outright victory is not achieved, usually a better position can be obtained so the next effort is that much further along toward success.

As 360-degree leaders it is important that we display confidence and courage if we wish to succeed.

So anchor high, dream big. There is a solution to every problem. Where there is a will there is a way. Faint heart never won fair lady.

Why not you? Why not us?
