Community Engagement

Nathan is a loyal gator fan and makes frequent contributions to The University of Florida, his three-time alma mater, and Florida's flagship university. He is also a lifetime member of the University of Florida Foundation, and a 3x Bull Gator. In 2007, Nathan endowed the UF ‘Nathan S. Collier Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE)’ program as part of UF's Warrington College of Business. Nathan teaches adjunctly at the University of Florida's Levin College of Law. Nathan also endowed the ‘Collier Prize for State Government Accountability’ through UF's College of Journalism and Communication.

Speaking Engagements

Along with having taught adjunct at UF’s Levin College of Law, Nathan has committed to a multitude of speaking engagements on behalf of UF and their students. He gave the commencement speeches at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business graduation ceremonies in both 2010 and 2018. Upon request, he happily continues to speak to student organizations about entrepreneurship, real estate, and a variety of other topics relating to business and personal development.

UF Nathan S. Collier Master of Science in Real Estate Program

Following through on his commitment to lifelong learning and hoping to influence a more rigorous and critical course on real estate for future real estate investors and developers in the community, Nathan frequently teaches adjunctly as both as a professor and a mentor for students. In 2021, Eduniversal ranked the UF MSRE program the No. 1 Real Estate/Wealth Management program in the nation. In this program students get an interactive learning experience with access to case studies and lectures - sometimes taught adjunctly by Nathan himself. This course is designed as a practicum in which the concepts, analytic methods, and tools used for making real estate valuation and investment decisions are developed and sharpened through applied cases, projects, and seminars. In this course, Nathan emphasizes success in business and the use of soft skills within the industry, such as developing high emotional intelligence and focusing on your strengths, along with his personal business philosophies of Steward Leadership, Main Street Values, and a commitment to continuous learning.

The Collier Journalism Prize for State Government Accountability

Because of his commitment to the Protection of Civil Liberties, Nathan endowed the Collier Journalism Prize for State Government Accountability through the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communication. The $25,000 prize is one of the largest journalism prizes in the nation. The prize was endowed in 2019 and is awarded annually at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Nathan created this prize to honor his late great-granduncle Peter Fenelon Collier who was the founder of Collier's Weekly –  a popular news publication founded in 1888. Collier’s Weekly was renowned for its purposeful expositions on government corruption, and it quickly became a highly circulated magazine which was known for its trailblazing efforts in investigative journalism. Nathan established the Collier Prize for State Government Accountability in the hopes that it will encourage the same kind of "muckraking journalism" to hold today's government officials and civil servants accountable and aid in the continuance of needed social reform.

A Million Dollar Commitment to the Arts

As a big supporter of the arts, and to pay homage to his hometown of Gainesville and its local Hippodrome Theatre, Nathan created The Collier Challenge, a 10-year dollar for dollar matching program in an effort to fundraise enough to secure the future of the Hippodrome. Nathan believes that the Hippodrome is a "cultural jewel for Gainesville, an incredible asset, and ensuring its long-term viability is important for our artistic future." Nathan has pledged to match dollar for dollar up to $100,000 a year for 10 years. The donations accumulated from this program will pay actor's salaries, script royalties, educational programming, and more for years to come. Another artistic outlet Nathan enthusiastically supports is the Dance Alive National Ballet. Nathan established The Collier Companies Charitable Challenge Grant whereby he will match every donation made to Dance Alive up to the amount of $25,000 for the next 5 years to help ensure the longevity of the program. Nathan is also a huge supporter of the UF Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Preforming Arts and frequents performances when they occur seasonally.
