Wow! This is a mouthful of a title for a blog post: Hostile Interactions and Wound Healing.
It is from the title of a study published in the December 2005 medical journal, “Archives of General Psychiatry,”* by scientists from Ohio State University. Essentially, the study showed that the higher the level of hostility, anger, and discord in a marriage, the slower the rate of healing. A 2009 study from the University of Chicago and John Hopkins University** found that divorce has long-term health consequences, only partially ameliorated by re-marriage.
The bottom line?
Your mood does affect your body. Happiness, optimism, and a positive attitude do have awesome health benefits. You do have more control than you may realize.
