Which of the above statements resonates most with you? If you agreed most with the first, then you have a tendency to believe external situations or other folks have greater control over your destiny than you. If you are more drawn to the second statement, if you agree with it more, then your locus of control is more internal: You believe you can powerfully impact your future and that your efforts make a significant difference.

Persistence is a powerful predictor of success. Optimists are more likely to succeed than pessimists. Not because they are smarter or more skilled then pessimists but simply because optimists: 1) Try more often 2) Try harder 3) Try longer, blissfully certain that success is certain to arrive.
