Tabula rasa is Latin for “blank slate” or more literally “erased slate” and refers back to Roman times when a tablet, slate or wax, could be wiped clean or re-melted, to begin anew.
I’m always invigorated by new beginnings, fresh starts and renewals. While the New Year is a traditional time for resolutions, every day, every morning, every moment is an opportunity to release the past and start fresh. My birthday is on the 11th; I often use the 11th of each month as an “accountability checkpoint”, a mile marker. How am I doing? Am I moving forward? Or am I sacrificing the gift? (“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice your gift.” – Steve Prefontaine).
You can push “Reset” any time you want. Each moment of every day is a blank slate, a “tabula rasa”, waiting for you. What story will you write?
