There is a famous quote by Nobel Literature Prize winner Albert Camus: “In the depth of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.”
We all have depths of strength within us that we know not of BUT we if we are rescued too soon, before we have been truly tested or if we give in or run, then we never grow. Just as muscles grow strongest when pushed to exhaustion, so do our character and confidence. Note: it is one thing to have the courage to ask for help, it is another to ask others to shoulder a burden that is ours to carry.
I’ve been self-employed in business for some 50 years now and it seems like every decade or so there has come a crisis that has threatened the very foundations of what I’ve spent a life building, including once to the very edge of bankruptcy. However, with each winter of desperation I have also found an invincible summer within.
When you truly believe you have an invincible summer within, when you know with an unshakable certainty that you can stand the fire, you can walk the valley… life becomes easier.
