A large piece of white marble being sculpted with a hammer and chisel

The Michelangelo Phenomenon is an observed effect by marriage counselors and psychologists reflecting the way couples mold or ‘sculpt’ each other over time. In other words, how your partner ‘sees’ you, what they believe about you and about your potential, has a powerful impact upon you.

When you call out to the best in your partner, when you affirm their finest characteristics, you reinforce them, you strengthen them. Unfortunately, the opposite is true: By fearing the worst, we can destroy the best.
