Whether it be
- breaking the ice or
- being the first to reach out in a relationship (be it friendly, family, or romantic) or
- being the first to say sorry
making the first move is a strong move, usually the right move! Making the first move creates trust, demonstrates confidence and self-assurance.
And by the way, a sincere apology (from the heart and not undercut by being accompanied by an excuse!) is not a sign of weakness, quite the contrary. Also, an apology does not have to be an acceptance of fault or wrongness, it can simply be acknowledgement of someone’s pain along with an expression of support and understanding.
