We have a saying at my company: “Our Customer’s Perception is Our Reality.” (OCP=OR) Each one of us sees the world differently and when it comes to satisfying your Customer; it’s their Point of View that counts, not ours and even if we disagree, our job is not to argue but to use every reasonable means at our disposal to satisfy them.
That the distinction between reality and perception can be blurred is an important reminder: If you see a bear on the path and have a heart attack running away, you are still dead (and dead lasts a long time!) even if it turns out to just be a shaggy dog!
Our perceptions are the lens through which we view the world and are determined by our attitude, past experiences and beliefs about the world. Those perceptions in turn drive our emotions and moods and actions, thus powerfully impacting our external reality.
Change your perceptions and your world will gradually change as well. A kind heart full of sunshine will experience a brighter world than one full of fear and pessimism. Positivity is not a magic wand but every problem is better faced with optimism than with doom and gloom.
