Desire for constant comfort and ease.
Ok, this is one of mine. Life is often messy and inconvenient, stuff happens. Doesn’t mean I have to like it, but I do have to accept it, at least in the short run until I can find a work around! Truth is, it’s all about balance. I do try to design my life as to minimize interaction with stressful or negative people or situations however on occasion life will do its thing or I find it ethically or morally necessary to deal with something I’d much rather dodge.
Trying to change the unchangeable.
Another one of mine, at least to a certain extent. When I think an objective is worth it, I find it hard to take no for an answer i.e. my philosophy is that where there is a will, there is a way. Wisdom lies in picking your battles carefully and husbanding your time and energy. If everything is a priority, nothing is. Every yes is a no, and one should always be aware of opportunities forgone.
Trying to keep things the way they “should be/used to be.”
This is closely related to trying the change the unchangeable and again it is very much a matter of balance. It is fine to attempt to order one’s life in ways that are pleasing to the soul; it is another to try to dictate to the universe and one’s companions the way things should be or stay. Often it is easier to focus on removing restraining forces than to increasing driving forces; you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar!
Seeking a faultless plan, a foolproof route or absolute crystal-clear clarity or certainty before sallying forth.
There is no perfect path; paths are made by walking, not waiting. And anyway, while planning is invaluable, plans often are useless for reality delights in throwing us curve balls.
