“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.
I hope someday you will join us, and the world will live as one.”
~John Lennon
“Dreams are the whispers of the soul.” This phrase has double meaning for me.
The first is that I think night-time dreams truly speak to us. They can be the voice of our subconscious and emotions attempting to be heard, alerting us to issues we need to deal with or areas of our lives that need attention.
On another level “dreams are the whispers of the soul” means that our dreams of what we would like to achieve, be, and do in life represent the calling out of our souls. Ignore your dreams at your own risk. There is a saying, “keep your life interesting or you will screw up just to make it interesting.” While not quite as positive an orientation as I like, there is some truth to it. We must stay in touch with our passions, our purpose.
When I lead goal-setting workshops I explain that want (desire) power is often stronger than will power. If after having tried and tried to find the will power, the discipline to do what is necessary to achieve a goal, you still cannot find what it takes to make yourself do what needs to be done, then that is a good thing! Why? Because it is a strong signal, a big, bright, flashing neon light telling you that you have chosen the wrong goals. You have picked goals that you are not emotionally attached to, that are not important enough. Frequently, this is because they are not your goals but someone else’s goals——your parents’, society’s, your mate’s, or just in general feel-good, sound-good goals, everything but your own.
There is something that makes you bound out of bed with enthusiasm, something that you look forward to, something that energizes you even when you are weary. Whatever that is, find a way to move it closer toward the center of your life. Find a way to do more of it, spend more of your time on it. Find a way to make it your livelihood if at all possible.
Listen to your soul’s whispers, for therein lies your destiny.

truth sometimes comes to the top.” — Virginia Woolf
“No one should negotiate their dreams. Dreams must be
free to flee and fly high. No government, no legislature,
has a right to limit your dreams. You should never agree
to surrender your dreams.” – Jesse Jackson

move the hearts of men.” — Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
