Terry J. Lundgren, CEO of Macy’s, quoting his father’s advice to him (New York Times, April 12, 2009): “You just have to work harder. ‘If the guy next to you works 40 hours a week and you work 60 hours a week, then after 10 years he’s got 10 years of experience and you’ve got 15.’…That works with me because I think I use my time productively. I think you just learn more if you put more into your job.”
What? You thought I was going to give you a short cut, some easy scheme to gain experience and get rich? You know me better! There is no elevator to the top.
