Recently, The Collier Companies Team Members submitted over 100 “Questions to the Chair” as part of our upcoming Conference of Champions. Here’s one:

Q: What’s the most important piece of advice you would give to someone starting out?

A: Create a life plan, have written goals for each of your major life roles and related action plans and accountability checkpoints. READ Professional and Self Improvement books voraciously! Listen to Audible books in your car. Journal, track your progress, get to know yourself, grow in self-awareness.

Have concrete plans to grow yourself, follow through relentlessly, nurture a burning desire to improve yourself, create a sense of self that fully supports you, walk on the sunny side of the street, make sure your self-talk is positive, supportive, and optimistic.

Closing quotes:

“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.” – Pablo Picasso

“The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment; it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone.” – Orison Swett Marden, 1850 – 1924

“It’s hard for me to understand why [getting an MBA] is a better use of time and money than actual experience combined with a dedicated reading of 30 or 40 books.” – Seth Godin, Purple Cow

As always, I share what I most want and need to learn. – Nathan S. Collier
