Want success? Want to stand out? Be different/better? Simple! Just do a little bit more than others, just a little bit longer, just try a little bit harder; just give it a little bit more effort, energy, and enthusiasm.

Those little bits will add up significantly! And if they don’t, in the eyes of your supervisor or partner or whomever, have a quiet, relaxed conversation about exactly what it is that is important to them. To be effective, every emotional bank account deposit needs to be in a currency valued by receiver, not so much that of the giver. Different outlooks/world views/value systems, different currencies!

Persistence and patient perseverance are powerful in part because so many others do not see setbacks as the learning, growth opportunities that they are, get discouraged, give up and fall by the wayside, clearing the way. It is rarely crowded along the extra mile!

Persisting is not always easy; while every weightlifter knows the greatest growth comes from pushing out the last rep, it is also the toughest one. Perseverance is the often the hard work you continue to put in even after you are exhausted from the hard work you’ve already done. Success is the prize that goes to those that find the strength within to persevere and endure.

Find that still, small voice within that whispers: “Just one more; just a little longer”; nurture it, believe in it, know you can, make it yours, make it habit, make it core to your self-concept.
