What holds us back from finding our greatness?  Frequently, our greatest challenge is some manifestation of fear and one of its cousins – anxiety and worry. The bad news is that often we have a hand in creating that growth barrier, the good news is that it is also within our power to remove that obstacle.

Fear can be a subtle emotion, often disguised as well intentioned words of caution or self-imposed limiting beliefs. We tell ourselves stories about ourselves and life and who we are and what things mean. In those stories often lie our destiny.

Do we tell ourselves we are strong and resilient or do we lick our wounds and say “I’ll never try that again, I’ll never trust again, I’ll never love again, I’ll never let myself be hurt like that again, I’ll never let myself be vulnerable, laughed at, exposed again.” Each word spoken in fear makes the wound a permanent wound, a scar potentially crippling, blocking our future growth. When we choose to weave a tale of fear into the fabric of our life story, it is we who are compounding the injury.

“So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself;
nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror
which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.”
– Franklin Delano Roosevelt,
1882-1945, 32nd U.S. President

“Often what you fear has little or no real power;
it is your fear that has the true power
and it is YOU
giving it the power.”
– Nathan S. Collier

 “There is no terror in the bang;
only in the anticipation.”
– Alfred Hitchcock,
1899-1980

“The Cave You Fear To Enter
Holds the Treasure You Seek.”
– Joseph John Campbell,
1904-1987
“The Power of Myth”
