#1 Give power away to their Inner Critic: Your inner critic knows your weak spots and vulnerabilities and often attempts to pass its toxic sabotage as well-meaning advice. “You know you are not that good at X; why set yourself up for failure? Be smart, play it safe, hug the comfortable and familiar.”

#2 Focus on what’s going wrong, not what’s staying right. There is much to be appreciative of in life if you just make the effort. Two men look out a window, one sees a muddy field, the other a starry sky.

#3 Consumed by what they don’t have, rather than being grateful for what they do have. Ambition is terrific unless in such excess that it undermines your appreciation of what you do have or erodes your ability to enjoy the present moment.

#4 Criticize, Complain, and Condemn, creating a constant cloud of negative energy that drains their energy and that of everyone with whom they come into contact.

#5 Carry the Past into the Present: Yesterday ended last night, MOVE ON! New Day, New Decisions, New Possibilities.

#6 Nurture Slights, Hold Grudges: Anger is an acid that corrodes. We are not punished for our anger but by our anger.

The key in life sometimes is to simply do as well as we know. I’m sure I’ve made at least one if not several of these mistakes in the past day. How about you?
