The more ways you have to receive love, the more love you will experience.
We all have our definitions of love, conscious or not. We all have our “secret formula” for experiencing love. We feel love when others take our calls even when other matters are pressing, when they listen, when they remember our birthday, when they dress nicely for us, when they introduce us to their friends. The list goes on. Some items are generic, but we all vary in the degree of intensity we feel and the importance to us of each one.
My wife shows her love in many ways, not all of which I’m necessarily open to. I know her comments about my posture are well intentioned and come from a good place but… Well, you know how it is.
Yet the more ways I’m open to receiving love, the more love I will experience. So frequently I find the need to remind myself to acknowledge someone’s good intentions. If they didn’t quite get it right from my perspective, my growth opportunity, my challenge, my responsibility, is to stay open and learn new pathways to experience love.
