Consciously Build Your Self Confidence/Self Esteem
Get your inner voice fully on your side, not as a flattering sycophant but as a coach who lovingly balances support and challenge. Know your weaknesses and back stop them but put most of your energy into growing your strengths. Notice when you do well, step back and do an analysis. Tease out the fundamental elements of your successes and build on them.
“My sense of self is anchored deep within, from that flows powerful peace.” – Nathan S. Collier
Manage Your Expectations
Expectations are like fire; in the hearth at home fire is delightful, in a crowded theater, fire is destructive. The world won’t always behave the way we want or expect. When it doesn’t, we must decide whether the situation is one we can truly impact. Even if we can, is it worth the required time and energy? The Buddha said it is not our attachments that bring us sorrow, it is our unwillingness to release them when the time comes. Learning to let go when the time comes is a powerful ability as is learning to recognize when that time has come.
“Expectation is the mother of all frustration.” – Antonio Banderas
Closing Quotes:
“Chance favors the prepared mind.” – Louis Pasteur, 1822-1895
“To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour.” – Sir Winston Churchill, 1874-1965
“Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future.” – Deepak K. Chopra, b. 1946
As always, I share what I most want and need to learn. – Nathan S. Collier
