Doing as well as we know is an ongoing challenge for us humans. We over-eat, sit when we should move, lose our cool, give in to temptation, choose immediate gratification over greater long-term reward… the list is long. Solution? Well, no magical answer, but there are ways to get better. One of them is to increase your self-awareness and learn your triggers.
For me, losing my temper starts with watching my thoughts, my internal self-programing. Telling myself that someone is not pulling their fair share of the load and feeling aggrieved only creates the fumes, the explosive, that the trigger sets off. I should either DO something about it or release the thoughts. One or the other. Mulling over adverse thoughts, creating negative emotions but not taking effective corrective action is the opposite of smart i.e. it is stupid. I am hurting myself, undermining my own peace of mind. Communicate and Resolve or Accept and Release.
