To go “Back to The Well” is to go back to the source of something valued, anything that nourishes you, replenishes your strength. When the storm comes, when times are uncertain; when you feel unsettled, when it is hardest to stay sturdy and steady; when it’s hardest to be your best self is when you most need to be your best self.

In these unpredictable times, when life seems so fickle, I find myself drawn back to basics, back to my core beliefs, seeking the companionship of things and friends solid and foundational, the relationships that really, really matter. The Treasures of the spirit, soul and mind, the principles and convictions that have always sustained me.

I re-read my favorite passages from spiritual books, from uplifting writings, drawing strength from them. I know that others have endured far worse and lived to prosper; I draw strength from their example. I know that I am resilient and resourceful and deep within me lie vast reservoirs and from that knowledge I draw strength. I know that I am never alone, spirit walks always with me, friends and family surround me and I am a citizen of an incredible country I believe in and in which I have tremendous faith and from that I draw strength.

The new day dawns and I greet it with joy.

Closing Quotes:

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31, KJV

“Resilience is a precious skill. People who have it tend to also have three underlying advantages: a believe that they can influence life events; a tendency to find meaningful purpose in life’s turmoil; and a conviction that they can learn from both positive and negative experiences.” – Amanda Ripley, ‘The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes – and Why’
