OST stands for Objective, Strategy, Tactics as in:
Our Objective is to…
The Strategy(s) we will employ to reach our objective are…
The Tactics we will utilize to fulfill our strategy are…
At The Collier Companies,
- Our Objective is to “Be in the Top 25% of Owners; EVERY Year for Twenty-Five Years Straight” (Accomplishing that will put us in Top 1%!)
- The Two Strategies we will employ to reach our Objective are 1) Entrepreneurial Spirit and 2) Being Good Stewards/Honoring the Social Contract and Respecting All our Stakeholders
- The Tactics we will utilize are many: Community Walks, Book Clubs, Cultural Immersion, Conference of Champions, Deep Onboarding, Golden Rule/Extra Mile Awards, 2X, etc. etc.
While the example above is from a business, OST works equally well is focusing your mind/efforts on making advances in your personal life, taking you from the 30,000 foot level all the way down to ground level. One can also think of OST as being “Why, What, and How” i.e. Motivation, Goal, Day to Day Execution. Some folks meander through life and others pay a bit more attention, choose a more self-aware life, learn what they REALLY want, what brings smiles to their lips, joy to their heart, contentment to their spirit and then use that knowledge to focus on creating and attracting evermore of it into their lives.
Closing Quotes:
“Make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.” – Paulo Coelho
“Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.” – Sun Tzu
“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus.” – Alexander Graham Bell
As always, I share what I most want and need to learn. – Nathan S. Collier
