The mind is a powerful thing, more powerful than we often realize. Our thoughts influence our emotions, our energy levels, and our resilience far more than we often acknowledge. There is much truth in the old adage “Think you can, think you can’t, you are right” in part because we rarely attempt that which we believe beyond our abilities, so our beliefs quickly become self-fulfilling prophecies.
Spinning your mental wheels worrying not only wastes your mental energy, it also tends to attract into your life the very things you wish to avoid: “Thoughts held in mind attract in kind and what you focus on expands.” Do yourself a favor, do what you reasonably can, then release and live serenely in the present moment.
