Abraham Lincoln was once asked for his opinion on a sermon to which he replied:

“It was brilliantly conceived, biblically relevant and well presented.”

Back came the reply: “So, it was a great sermon?”

“No,” Lincoln replied. “It failed. It failed because (the pastor) did not ask us to do something great.”

There is greatness in all of us, if only to be better, kinder, wiser today than yesterday. Yet to be our greatest self is far from automatic; to access our highest potential, we must continuously ask more of ourselves, reflect on our days at eve time, envision for the morrow how we can grow, develop and help others along the way. Even small efforts, compounded daily, can create astounding results.

What is your ask of yourself? The good book says: “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find.” There is greatness in you, ask for it to come forth and then do the work to make it happen. It is your one and only life; live it well, live it fully.
