David R. Hawkins (1927-2012) in ‘Power vs. Force’ put forth a hierarchal Map of Human Consciousness starting with lower-level emotions such as shame, guilt, blame, apathy, (irrational?) fear, (unchecked?) desire, despair, anger and pride. Courage is the turning point to the middle levels of expanding awareness with emotions such as optimism, productivity, service, reason, emotional maturity, self-responsibility predominating: “Everything above this level contributes to life-giving energy rather than draining it.”
The final higher level has emotions such as joy, peace, love, and enlightenment. Hawkins put the levels on a logarithmic scale and assigned values (see below) as well as feeling the need to postulate what appears to be pseudoscientific claims in support of his thoughts. I preferred to approach it as interesting and useful philosophical musings, taking what works for me and leaving the rest.
That said I found the map of interest and so I share it with you.
PS: Do not confuse the above author with the prominent physicist David R. Hawkins (1913-2002)
