How well do you know yourself? Or perhaps better put, how well do you WANT to know yourself? Someone once defined a successful relationship as one where each partner was reasonably comfortable with what (illusions/delusions or fantasies) the other partner projected on to them.
So what lies/illusions/delusions or fantasies do we hold about ourselves? And how good are we at “Future Forecasting”? Predicting what we will want in the future, how happy we will be with the decisions we are making now? Do you know your triggers, are you aware of your patterns, can motivate yourself? Can you summon your best self at will, be all there for yourself in time of need? Live serenely in the present moment? Keep the promises you make to yourself?
Self-knowledge is far from automatic; it requires an intense investment of time and energy, introspection, reflection, and journaling. A powerful method is, every time you set a goal, write the “why” down, clarify how you expect to feel, how long those feelings will last, what you think will be different in your life. When you hit your target, compare your predictions with the reality. Overtime, you will greatly improve your predictive projections and your decision making will benefit tremendously.
