Our hurts often become our fears and then all too frequently our fears become our limits… if we let them, if we live an unaware life, if we do not step outside ourselves and observe, reflect, and learn/grow.
Socrates admonished us that “The unexamined life is not worth living.” At the very least the unexamined life is a life of wasted potential. Furthermore, it is a lot more efficient to catch the hurts/fears/limits cycle in the process than to try to deconstruct it once it has settled in and grown roots.
Explore your life; teach yourself to become aware of the times when you are living unaware. I highly recommend journaling as a useful exercise in introspection and self-examination. Choose to live no ordinary life, choose to live the live extraordinaire. You owe it to yourself (and those around you) to become the best you that you can be.
