E + P = O stands for “Event + Perception = Outcome” and serves as a reminder of how powerfully our world view and our chosen responses alter our circumstances. Our inner mindset strongly impacts our outer situation. Our chosen responses are often so deeply engrained, so habitual, that we often don’t recognize them for the decisions that they are. Fish discover water last and deep self-awareness is an ability that takes long cultivation to develop. Expanding the space between stimulus and response is incredibly liberating. Look around you: if others have chosen differently, in ways that served them better, so can you.
