Questions focus the mind. The questions we choose to ask ourselves direct our thoughts, our efforts, thus the eventual results we create. We rarely achieve that which we do not attempt. We even more rarely attempt that which we do not think possible.
In the midst of crisis, stress, trouble, and turmoil the mind that can ask itself empowering questions such as “How can I use this?” is a mind that will go much further than the mind that asks “Why me?”
People who ask superior questions tend to get superior results.
Five Problem-Solving Questions:
(from “Awaken the Giant Within,” by Anthony Robbins)
1. What is great about this problem? What could be great? What opportunity lies within?
2. What is not perfect yet?
3. What am I willing to do to make it the way I want?
4. What am I willing to no longer do to make it the way I want?
5. How can I enjoy the process?
Notice how all these questions are solution oriented. Ask yourself problem-oriented questions, you will get more problems. Ask yourself effective, solution-oriented questions, you get solution-oriented thinking.
Closing Quotes:
“Always the beautiful answer who asks a more beautiful question.” — e. e. cummings
“The quality of your life is tightly linked to the quality of your questions.” — Anthony Robbins
“Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’ Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’ But conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’ And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right.” — Martin Luther King, Jr.
