Repetition is powerful. Reps are wonderful in the gym for strength training… AND for creating habits. Think of your brain as just one big Mental Muscle… that needs to be re-wired if you want to acquire a new skill or habit. Repetition re-wires your brain by strengthening neural pathways associated with a behavior, eventually making the behavior a habit.
Caution! Repetition does work… both ways! Repetition can build excellence, but it can also engrain dysfunction. The common phrase “Practice makes Perfect” is a simplification; the truth is that “Practice makes Permanent” and thus it behooves us to ensure that our reps are based upon PROPER Practice.
