What will you put up with before you move on? What are your standards, your acceptable minimum? Generally speaking, what we are willing to settle for is what we get. Yes, occasionally life drops golden things into our lives (for which we should be eternally grateful). However, I would not recommend counting on luck as a life plan. Most of the time, we have to set our sights on our personal mountain top and then expend extraordinary effort to make our dreams come true. If you are willing to tolerate a painful or less than optimum situation, if you lack the drive, desire or courage to move on, then you will never know if something better exists even if it was just around the next corner. The good book (Luke 11:9) says, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” BUT you must take ACTION: Ask, Seek, Knock. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Where have you settled in life? Yes, you must prioritize. Yes, you must pick your battles. Yes, you win the decathlon by being #2 in most events, #1 in only a few BUT are you aware of and content with your choices?
Closing Quotes:
“Argue for your weakness and it’s yours.” – Stephen R. Covey
“I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store;
For Life is just an employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have paid.” – Jessie B. Rittenhouse
As always, I share what I most want and need to learn. – Nathan S. Collier
