A “Liberating Truth” is any realization that the world is not as we thought it was; in essence an unshackling of mental chains. Liberating truths are the flip side of limiting beliefs i.e. they are increases in your awareness, an “ah ha” moment that releases you to try to ways of thinking, acting, and being.
Journaling, therapy, and self-reflection are all excellent ways to increase your awareness of yourself and the lens through which you view the world, to discover both liberating truths and limiting beliefs. Fish discover water last: we are least aware of (and therefore do not question) that which is most familiar.
Liberating truths often involve a re-claiming of personal power that you’ve inadvertently abandoned or relinquished to others; perhaps by accepting others or society’s values uncritically as your own. A sense of increased clarity or of the “lifting of fog” are indications one has found a liberating truth.
