What professional should be my most trusted advisor?
YOU! Educate yourself! You are your most valuable resource. The buck always stops with you. This is true for any entrepreneur, any investor. In the final analysis, you and you alone must decide. Everyone else has goals that are different from yours even if only slightly and you must always take that into account.
Always be reading, asking questions, searching, endlessly curious! You will frequently get answers and info that contradicts, which is itself a valuable bit of knowledge. Either there is no right answer or it is a matter of perspective or quality of execution, or someone is knowledgeable and someone is pretending to be (or think they are but aren’t which is dangerous because false confidence is much harder to read than fake confidence and can easily mislead), or both answers are true but at different levels of analysis.
“If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too…
If all men count with you, but none too much”
– “If” by Rudyard Kipling
“Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.” – “Desiderata” (Desired Things) @ 1927 by Max Ehrmann (1872–1945)
“The best advice I ever got was that knowledge is power and to keep reading.” – David Bailey
As always, I share what I most want/need to learn. – Nathan S. Collier
