Wow, not a charming title! Choose your pain? Who wants to read about pain? Well, I never promised you a rose garden.
Life is all about choices. And the consequences of those choices.
You can have the pain of regret or the pain of discipline. As always, your choice. Your life will reflect the consequences of your choices.
I’ll let you in on a little secret: The “pain” of discipline is often temporary, the “pain” of regret can be permanent.
Discipline becomes easier and easier over time as it morphs into a habit. Strangely enough, required discipline often becomes a pleasure, something you miss if you skip it. If after a while you still need massive amounts of discipline (versus just an occasional burst to get you started), then it is a good idea to sit down and talk things out with yourself. Make sure that you are internally aligned, that this task or goal or activity is indeed core to you, something YOU want to do or accomplish, not something others want of you or that you think you want.
One key to discipline is to find a way to get yourself to WANT to do the things necessary to achieve your goal. Often it requires creativity and looking for new paradigms, new ways to view things or combine activities. Focus on the benefits, look where you want go, visualize in rich detail the desired result. What you focus on will expand, thoughts in mind will attract in kind. Find others of like mind and similar goals, make them your coaches and cheerleaders, be the same for them.
A better life awaits. What are you waiting for? Release your brakes, unleash your greatness.
