While it may be appropriate to be deliberate in your approach, to observe or monitor a problem for a while, one should rarely, if ever, actually IGNORE a bad problem. My three simple universal life rules are “Live Smart, Avoid Dumb, Don’t Sabotage” and ignoring a bad problem violates all three. Maturity is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it needs to be done, whether you want to or not.
Procrastination is the theft of both time and energy. A bad problem your surface mind is ignoring can still cause stress and anxiety for it is not truly gone from your mind; you still know about it and it usually lingers on in your subconscious. We think folks procrastinate out of laziness; truth is more often it is from fear. Sometimes the least painful thing is to simply do the thing you fear, just so you can stop dreading it!
Closing Quotes:
“If you procrastinate when faced with a big difficult problem… break the problem into parts, and handle one part at a time.” – Robert Collier, 1885-1950
“During a very busy life I have often been asked, ‘How did you manage to do it all?’ The answer is very simple. It is because I did everything promptly.” – Richard Tangye
“Waiting is a trap. There will always be reasons to wait – The truth is, there are only two things in life, reasons, and results, and reasons simply don’t count.” – Robert Anthony
As always, I share what I most want and need to learn. – Nathan S. Collier
