A philosophically oriented entrepreneur once opined that a universal job description could be ‘Find and Retain Profitable Customers’. Job descriptions are important, they define core responsibilities and provide for accountability. Unfortunately, they can cause some to have tunnel vision and become limitations. The most successful in life consistently exceed their job descriptions, they constantly look for ways to add value, both to the company they work for, as well as to those around them.
Those who go the farthest in life find ways to bring out the best in others, to contribute above and beyond the bounds of their existing position. When you see your ultimate job description as being to create value, you are always on the lookout for ways to generate prosperity and elevate others.
Always go the extra mile, it’s rarely crowded.
