The inner journey of self-discovery can be likened to peeling an onion, layer after layer, perhaps with some tears and fears along the way. Each layer explored reveals new, deeper feelings and foundational beliefs, some unexpected or uncomfortable, others perhaps exhilarating or exciting. It is a never-ending journey in part because we humans are complex beings and in part because both you and the world around you are ever changing. Plus, you can think of each of your major life roles as a separate onion in the same garden patch: work life, friends, family, spiritual, spouse, kids, community.

Not all choose the path of self-discovery. Inner work is definitely not for those who prefer the easy road, nor is it for the faint of heart. It is the cave we most fear to enter that holds the greatest treasure. It is a challenge I urge you to accept; find your cave, courageously explore away.
