How well do you know all the programs, the coding you’ve picked up over the years, that run in the background of your mind? Or more likely in the underground of your consciousness?
So much happens beneath our conscious level of awareness; thought patterns and routines, habits and reflexive responses that are so ingrained that we no longer realize how robotic we’ve become. Freedom and growth come as we begin to realize that we CAN choose differently; that other options do exist and we have the power of choice. Yet to exercise that power of choice we must first become aware that other choices exist; we must separate out the “observer” from the “responder”.
This can be challenging particularly in the heat of the moment. I find it extremely helpful to sit down with my journal at the end of the day or in the still quiet of the morning and envision how I could’ve lived the prior day at a better, higher level. What choices did I forgo? Would a different interpretation have led to a different, more effective response? How would the most competent, wisest person I know, the best fit for this situation, how would they have handled it? I then put myself mentally back in the experience and visualize myself, cool, calm, collected, confident and centered, creating a better outcome. I find such mental re-writes extremely effective in upping my game.

“The closer you come to knowing that you alone create the world of your experience, the more vital it becomes for you to discover just who is doing the creating.” – Eric Micha’el Leventhal
“The subconscious mind makes no distinction between constructive and destructive thought impulses. It works with the material we feed it, through our thought impulses. The subconscious mind will translate into reality a thought driven by fear, just as readily as it will translate into reality a thought driven by courage or faith.” – Napoleon Hill. 1883-1970, ‘Think and Grow Rich’
As always, I share what I most want and need to learn. – Nathan S. Collier
