A good heart is not enough and that is a hard truth that few openly acknowledge. Yes, for sure be a good-hearted, good-natured, well-intentioned, kind person. I wholeheartedly support and encourage you to be so BUT you cannot stop there. You must also be strong-minded, resilient, and optimistically realistic.
I’ve had in my employ good-hearted folk filled to the brim with the best of intentions… and yet somehow they did not find it within themselves to hold others accountable. Unfortunately, in doing so, they failed our Customers to whom we have an obligation, a duty to deliver on our commitments. At another level, they also failed those they led because they taught that mediocre was acceptable.
