What gets a triple boring headline? The Path to Success. Yep, you heard me right: the pathway to the mountaintop is full of ordinary routine, little things done well, day after day. Honing the details of one’s craft, focused practice repeated religiously. Bit by bit, better every day. How many miles does a marathoner run? How many drafts does a lawyer write of a closing argument? How many hours does an accountant study for the CPA exam (I put in well over 200)? Exciting? No! Repetitious? Necessary? Yes!
No one masters their field, no one gets to the top without putting in the hours to hone their talent to its sharpest edge and then putting in even more time to stay savvy. The results may be exciting, but the process rarely is. Accepting this truth, internalizing it, releasing magical expectations, all help build true grit and resilience, support the persistence necessary to persevere to the end.
